Family Profiles and Settings

In the Profiles and settings window parents can set up and edit the membership information and the parent and child profiles and user settings associated with their membership. Children can only edit their own profile and user settings.

Membership Information

To enter or update your membership information, follow these steps:

Enter or verify your name, e-mail address, state or province, and time zone.

Note: IXL uses your state information to align skills to your state's standards. For more information, see State Standards.

If necessary, change your password.
If you want to receive automated reports from IXL via e-mail, select the Receive report e-mails check box.
If you want to hide the grade menu in the left pane for all screens except the Practice and Grade pages, clear the Display grade menu in left pane while practicing check box.

IXL will hide this menu for all users in your membership.

If you want to create or edit parent or child profiles, proceed as described below. Otherwise, click Submit.

Parent Profile

To enter or update your parent profile and user settings, follow these steps:

Enter or verify your screen name.
If necessary, select or upload an icon.

To choose one from IXL, select Select from library and click on the icon you want. Use the scroll arrows to view additional icons.
To upload an icon, select Upload your own and enter the full path and file name or browse for the appropriate graphic file on your computer.

If necessary, enter a secret word.

Whereas all family members associated with your membership need to sign in with the same username and password, the secret word is associated with the individual user. With a secret word, you can prevent children from accessing the membership settings available in a parent account or from running reports on their brothers and sisters! When signing in, you will need to enter the secret word.

If you want to create or edit a child profile, proceed as described below. Otherwise, click Submit.

Child Profile

To enter or update child profile information and settings, follow these steps:

Enter or verify the child's first name.
If necessary, select or upload an icon.

To select one from IXL, select Select from library and click on the icon you want. Use the scroll arrows to view additional icons.
To upload an icon, select Upload your own and enter the full path and file name or browse for the appropriate graphic file on your computer.

If necessary, enter a secret word.

With a secret word, you can keep brothers and sisters from snooping in each other's accounts! When signing in, you will need to enter the secret word.

Click Submit to save your information.
