Practicing math is what IXL is all about, and we made it easy to do, so you can concentrate on your math.
Note: If you have an account, sign in before practicing math if you want to bypass the 20-problem limit, access the game board, earn awards, and ensure your work is stored in the system. To do this, enter your username and password in the fields at the top of the screen and click Sign in.
Depending on the question, IXL may ask you to choose an answer from several choices, to type your answer onto the screen, or to create a graph. When necessary, IXL provides you with a set of math symbols and exponents you can use to enter your answer properly. Select or enter your answer and click Submit to proceed to the next question, or click Submit & finish to submit your answer and leave the skill.
To hear the text of a pre-K, kindergarten, or 1st grade math problem or its answers, click the speaker icon. This feature helps younger students who may not have developed reading skills yet. Note that you must turn up the volume on your computer to use this feature.
On the right side of the screen, you can see the number of problems you've attempted for this skill, the time elapsed, and your current SmartScore for the skill. SmartScore is IXL's proprietary scoring algorithm. It gives you the best possible information on your performance, based on such factors as the number of problems completed, number of problems correct and incorrect, problem difficulty, and consistency.
At the top of the screen, you may see a notice, informing you that you have won a prize. Click Go to the game board to uncover it.
On the left side of the screen, you can choose a different skill for your grade. If you want to select a skill from another grade, click the Practice tab and then select the grade you want to see all skills it offers.
