The following document provides answers to common questions our users have during the membership or subscription process.
Does a membership include all of my children or do I need to purchase multiple memberships?
There is no need to purchase more than one membership. You can purchase access for multiple children within your family membership. Each child will have their own account that they can use to sign in and practice math. The program adapts to each child’s skill level and will track their progress individually.
Pricing for family memberships starts at just $9.95/month or $79/year. Each additional child costs $2/month or $20/year. For more information or to purchase a family membership, go to http://www.ixl.com/membership/family and select your desired membership option to view pricing details.
Do you offer a trial membership for family users?
We only offer trials for teachers. We don't offer them for family memberships because parents have the option of purchasing a monthly membership instead of committing to a full year. We do allow you to complete up to 20 questions per day for free, so that you can try us out before purchasing a membership.
Are the children in my membership restricted to practicing one grade level?
IXL does not limit children to one grade level. With your membership, your children get access to all the grade levels available on the site!
I don't live in the U.S. Can I purchase a membership?
Of course! IXL is not limited to users in the U.S. We have users in more than 150 countries. You can sign up directly on our website and make payment with your credit card. Our prices are in U.S. dollars, so your credit card company will convert the funds on your statement to your local currency, based on the exchange rate at that time.
If you live in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, or the United Kingdom, IXL offers a customized edition for your country. Prices for these customized editions are quoted in your local currency. You can learn more about international editions of IXL here.
Can I pay in a different currency?
All prices are in U.S. dollars. Your credit card company will convert the funds on your statement to your currency, based on the exchange rate at that time.
Is my credit card information going to be kept safe?
Yes, IXL.com is a secure website, so signing up with a credit card is safe. To protect the privacy of our customers, all information you enter is encrypted.
Do you accept any form of payment other than credit card?

How do I add a child to my membership?
To add a child to your membership, sign in to your IXL parent account, then go to the Membership tab and click the Account management link. From here, click Add children, make the appropriate selections, and click Confirm.
If I add a child during the course of my membership, will the price be reduced?
Yes, when you add a child to your membership, the cost will be adjusted to reflect the time remaining in your billing period.
How do I update my credit card information?
To update your credit card information, sign in to your IXL parent account and go to the Membership tab, then click the Account management link. In the Billing details section, click Edit and make your changes. Please be sure to click Update when finished, so your changes are saved.
I have a monthly membership and would like to switch to a yearly membership. Can I apply the payments I made toward the monthly membership to a yearly membership?
Unfortunately, we cannot apply payments from your monthly membership to your new yearly membership. When you switch to a yearly membership, the change takes effect after your current month ends. That way you will not lose the time you have already paid for.
To easily switch to a yearly membership, sign in to your IXL parent account and go to the Membership tab, then click the Account management link. From here, click Switch to a yearly membership.
Can I put my monthly membership on hold?
Certainly! You can put your monthly membership on hold for up to 3 months. To put your membership on hold, sign in to your IXL parent account and go to the Membership tab, then click the Account management link. From here, click Put membership on hold.
How do I cancel my membership?
You can easily cancel your membership at any time. Simply sign in to your IXL parent account and go to the Membership tab, then click the Account management link. From here, click Cancel membership. Be sure to click Submit to complete the cancellation. Your membership will remain active until your current billing period ends.
If I cancel my membership, will I receive a pro-rated credit?
Unfortunately, we do not offer pro-rated refunds or credits for any partially used membership periods. You may cancel your IXL membership at any time. Once you have canceled your membership, your credit card will not be charged again. You will continue to have access to the program until the current billing period ends.
Can I change the state standards aligned to my account?
Yes, you can easily change the state standards that your account is aligned with at
any time. Simply sign in to your parent account and click the Profile & settings link at the top of the page.

Is a subscription active for a calendar year or a school year?
Subscriptions are active for one calendar year from the date we receive your purchase order or payment.
How long does it take to activate my subscription after I place my order?
We will activate your subscription as soon as we receive your purchase order or payment. For classroom licenses, credit card payments are processed online and your subscription is activated immediately.
Do you accept school purchase orders?
Yes, we accept purchase orders for classroom and site licenses. For fastest processing, please fax your purchase order to us at 650-372-4301. Please be sure to include the primary contact's name and e-mail address on your purchase order. Once we receive your purchase order we'll activate your license and send a confirmation e-mail.
Can I purchase a classroom license for more than 30 students?
Yes. The standard classroom license is $199 for up to 30 students. To see a detailed breakdown of price levels for larger classes, please visit the subscriptions page.
I don't have 30 students. Do you offer a smaller license?
Our classroom license is our standard option for teachers. It provides for classes with up to 30 students. Whether you have 6 students or 30 students, this license is our most flexible option!
Can students access IXL from home?
Yes! IXL subscriptions offer students and teachers unlimited access from any computer connected to the Internet. Therefore, students can practice from school or home.
Do students receive access to all grade levels?
Yes! All IXL subscriptions provide unlimited access to every grade level available on the site.
IXL does not provide worksheets at this time. IXL is a completely Web-based math program and is designed to be used on the Internet. IXL tracks each individual student and adapts to his or her aptitude, increasing the level of difficulty as a student improves. Therefore, the problems are better practiced online so that the program can track progress and ensure the student masters each skill.
Do you offer a reading program?
Currently, IXL only offers math content. We will be expanding to include a language arts component in the next year. To be sure you receive the latest information about IXL's product offerings, please sign up to receive our newsletter.
Is IXL available in other languages?
At this time, IXL is only offered in English. We do offer six international editions of IXL, each with content tailored to the different national curricula. Learn more about the international editions.
