Technical Requirements

IXL works well on a variety of computer and browser platforms. However, some platforms are better suited to running IXL than others. Below are the minimum and the recommended system configurations for using IXL.

Hardware

Basics: Your computer hardware and operating system must allow you to run and use one of the operating systems and Web browsers listed below. We recommend you have at least 256MB of installed RAM.

Display: You should set your display to a resolution of 1024x768 with 32-bit color depth.

Internet: Your computer needs a modem or network card to connect to the Internet.

Internet connection

To use IXL, your computer must be connected to the Internet. You can connect via a proxy device, however the proxy device must obey the HTTP/1.1 protocol, including all caching and anti-caching directives. We recommend a connection speed of at least 128Kbps.

Operating systems and browsers

IXL supports the following operating systems with the latest available versions of the indicated browsers:

Operating System Browsers
Microsoft Windows 98, NT,

2000, ME, XP, Vista
Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8
Mozilla Firefox 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5
Macintosh OS X Safari 3.0, 4.0
Mozilla Firefox 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5

Note: You should always make sure your computer has the latest available operating system and browser patches. Running without the latest patches is unsafe, and it may prevent IXL features from working properly.

Additional software

For some features in IXL, such as the reports, you'll need to install additional software on your computer. These products are available free of charge.
