The IXL Summer Math Program provides students an opportunity to review and master concepts taught throughout the school year. The IXL online program is intuitive and gives students an opportunity to work through an inexhaustible set of math problems sorted by grade-level and standards. Each problem provides students with instant feedback, and when wrong answers are entered, the program generates instructions on how to successfully complete the problem. Furthermore, the computer records correct and incorrect responses to keep students apprised of the concepts they have mastered.

Expectations:
This summer, we hope each student will spend a minimum of one hour per week (two 30-minute sessions) working through math problems on IXL. The program allows students to pick the concepts on which they would like to work. We recommend that students select problems from the grade level they just completed and follow the plan outlined in the spreadsheet found at this link. In other words, time should be spent reviewing and mastering concepts learned over the course of this school year.

Rising 1st through 4th graders:
In order to provide students with an opportunity to review concepts learned during the school year, Lower School teachers have compiled summer math work that revisits units from throughout the year. If you are interested in having your child complete this work, each grade level’s summer math work can be found under Resources on the Bobcat Den.

Rising 5th graders:
Have access to IXL accounts and may work through fourth grade concepts of their choosing.

Rising 6th through 8th graders:
Have access to IXL accounts and may work through concepts as assigned and of their choosing.

Special Note:
There is an IXL iPad app. After downloading the app, you will be prompted to login. Since you are not on our “ACDS IXLhomepage”, you must add @alexa to the end of your username (scottlieberman@alexa). The app may be integrated with Google eventually at which time please use the Google sign in.
