For math and language arts skills, when students reach a SmartScore of 90 and collect their third ribbon, they enter a new practice zone—the Challenge Zone! The Challenge Zone is the final stretch to skill mastery. Earning a SmartScore of 90 is an excellent achievement, but for students who want a chance to show off what they’ve learned, the Challenge Zone is the place. There they will tackle the most difficult questions in a skill, demonstrating their complete understanding as the SmartScore climbs to 100.
Since the Challenge Zone questions are indeed a challenge, encourage your students to go at their own pace. As long as they are signed in, IXL will always remember their place; they can take a break and jump back in at any time without missing a beat!
When students achieve a SmartScore of 100, they have truly earned that gold medal and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it!
